“On July 1, 2010 our rent will increase to nearly $7000.00 a month (as of now it’s approximately $4300.00), jeopardizing the future of 924 Gilman.
A little background…
The club’s rent has been increasing every year for the last twenty three years, and up until now we’ve been able to make the adjustments needed to compensate for those increases, but what we are facing now is the equivalent of having twenty years of rent increases condensed into one, and once it goes into effect the clock will begin to tick away as we struggle to generate the extra $31,000.00 a year needed to cover this massive rent hike.

BLACK FORK are playing a record release show on September 26th, 2009 at Gilman!
“In 1995, an LP had been recorded, but due to a series of setbacks, the songs were divided into two EPs and released on labels that almost immediately folded. There is also a split 7″ with comrades-in-arms Los Canadians, as well as tracks on various compilations, including Recess Records’ “Play At Your Own Risk Vol 2.”, Zafio’s “This Is Berkeley Not West Bay”, Lookout!/Kill Rock Stars’ “A Slice Of Lemon” and Very Small Records’ “Wood Panel Pacer Wagon”. Most of these track, remixed and remastered, appear on BLACK FORK – “The First Fork Years” 12″ LP, which is available now from Mess Me Up Records in Berkeley,California. BLACK FORK was best known for the intensity of its live show, which always left both band and audience close to deaf and soaked in a hot vapor of sweat and liquor-swill.” -Black Fork’s website
“Blazing punk with crazed female vox and crazier lyrics and live shows!” -Jesse Luscious (Blatz, Gr’ups, & Criminals)
